Phone Scam Alert

It has been brought to our attention that some patients have received fraudulent phone calls appearing to come from Oaklawn’s General Surgery phone number – (269) 781-4267. These callers are requesting payment or credit card information and may leave a voicemail claiming it is a bill for services.

Oaklawn’s Patient Accounts Service Center team does make calls regarding past due accounts, but our staff will always:

  • Identify themselves by name and state they are calling from Oaklawn Patient Accounts.
  • Ask patients to confirm first and last name and date of birth before discussing account details.
  • Offer the option to call back directly at 269-789-7000 to make a payment by following prompts if a patient is uncomfortable providing payment over the phone.
  • Document the account noting that a call attempt was made.

If you receive a suspicious call, do not provide any personal or financial information.
Instead:

  • Hang up and call Oaklawn Patient Accounts directly at 269-789-7000 to verify any billing concerns.
  • Report the incident to your local police department and obtain a report number.
  • Contact your credit card company and financial institution for assistance in safeguarding your accounts and monitoring for fraudulent activity.

Oaklawn remains committed to protecting our patients and their personal information. If you have any doubts about a call you receive, please reach out to us directly before taking any action.
