Oaklawn Reverified as Level III Trauma Facility Through July 2028
Marshall, Mich. — Oaklawn has once again received verification and designation as a Level III Trauma Facility from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to providing timely, high-quality trauma care to the region. The designation is effective through July 2028.
As part of the verification process, the MDHHS Designation Subcommittee—comprised of trauma content experts—conducted a comprehensive review of Oaklawn’s verification documents, designation application, and a Level III trauma site visit report. The on-site evaluation took place on November 17, 2025, and assessed Oaklawn’s trauma services, clinical capabilities, policies, and overall readiness to care for injured patients.
MDHHS recognized Oaklawn for this important achievement and acknowledged the hospital’s integral role in building and sustaining a regionalized, coordinated, and accountable trauma system across the state of Michigan.
“Maintaining our Level III Trauma designation reflects the dedication and expertise of our physicians, nurses, and support staff who work around the clock to ensure patients receive high-quality emergency and trauma care close to home,” said Gregg Beeg, Oaklawn President and CEO. “We are proud to continue serving our community as a vital part of Michigan’s trauma care network.”
Level III Trauma Centers are equipped to provide prompt assessment, resuscitation, stabilization, emergency surgery, and ongoing care for trauma patients. This designation ensures Oaklawn meets rigorous state standards and is prepared to deliver critical care when it matters most.
