Effective January 1, 2024, practice will be known as Oaklawn Medical Group Wright Medical Primary Care
Effective January 1, 2024, Dr. David Byrens’ family practice in Marshall will merge with Oaklawn Medical Group and become Oaklawn Medical Group Wright Medical Primary Care.
“With shared expertise and a unified dedication to high quality healthcare, we look forward to enhancing the patient experience and fostering a continuum of care,” said Oaklawn President and CEO Gregg Beeg. “This acquisition represents a strategic alignment of values, combining personalized care with resources and comprehensive services to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”
Dr. Byrens’ patients recently received a letter explaining what will take place in the new year.
“This transition will bring about some changes, but our commitment to providing you with the highest quality care remains unwavering,” wrote Dr. Byrens. “By joining forces with Oaklawn Medical Group, we will strengthen the partnership and continue to access a broader network of healthcare resources, advanced technology, and specialized medical expertise that will benefit your overall health and well-being.”
Byrens opened his practice in 1989 and said his making a change had been in the works for a while.
“I’ve been thinking about it over the last year, but especially the last six months,” said Dr. Byrens. “Once the transition is complete, my intention is to be working just over half time by April 1… But the goal is to maintain the practice with the same approach to staffing and the same model of care. I still enjoy doing what I do, and I intend to do so for a few more years.”
Dr. Byrens noted that patients will continue to receive the same level of care from he and a dedicated healthcare team that will include Ron Applebey, PA-C and Shannon Hepler, FNP-C and will be located in the same location at 215 E. Mansion Street, Suite 2F, in Marshall. There will be no changes to the office’s contact information. Patients can get more information or make an appointment by calling 269-781-2111.
Insurance processes will remain unchanged, and patients can continue to use the same coverage for their medical care.
The practice will be transitioning to the Athena Health portal, effective January 1, 2024. More information will come soon, including how to sign up or create an account.
Dr. Byrens noted that he and the other doctors in the office are committed to addressing any questions or concerns patients may have during this transition and encourage them to reach out to the office.
“We are confident that our practice will continue to function as it has in the past and our goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible. Your health, comfort, and trust are our top priorities, and we are excited about the partnership that this acquisition brings. Thank you for entrusting us with your healthcare needs,” wrote Dr. Byrens.
Beeg praised Dr. Byrens for his commitment to the community for more than three decades.
“Dr. David Byrens’ many years of service in the community is more than a professional achievement; it is a symbol of unwavering commitment, a testament to the relationships built and a reflection of the positive impact on the overall health and well-being of the community,” said Beeg. “We are excited to have Dr. Byrens join the Oaklawn team and continue to provide outstanding care to our patients.”
