Oaklawn’s Longstanding Partnership with Fountain Clinic Provides Nearly $9 Million in Diagnostic Services to Local Patients in Need
MARSHALL, Mich. — For more than 25 years, Oaklawn has helped ensure that uninsured and underinsured residents throughout the region have access to essential healthcare services through its longstanding partnership with Fountain Clinic.
As part of its commitment to community health, Oaklawn annually provides approximately $350,000 in in-kind laboratory and imaging services for Fountain Clinic patients. Over the course of the partnership, the value of these donated services has reached nearly $9 million, helping thousands of local individuals receive critical diagnostic testing that might otherwise be out of reach.
Fountain Clinic, a local nonprofit organization, provides medical and dental care to uninsured and underinsured members of the community. Through the partnership, Fountain Clinic patients who require laboratory work or X-rays can receive those services through Oaklawn at no cost, allowing providers to diagnose conditions, monitor treatments, and deliver comprehensive care.
“This partnership is a natural extension of Oaklawn’s commitment to serving our community,” said Dr. Summer Liston-Crandall, President & CEO of Oaklawn. “Access to diagnostic services can make all the difference in getting people connected to the right care at the right time. We’re proud to support the Fountain Clinic’s work and help remove barriers for those who might otherwise go without these important services.”
For many patients, access to diagnostic services can mean the difference between identifying a serious health concern early and delaying care due to financial barriers. By providing these services, Oaklawn helps ensure that local residents receive timely diagnoses and treatment recommendations regardless of their ability to pay.
As an independent, nonprofit hospital serving rural Michigan, Oaklawn invests in programs and partnerships that strengthen community health and expand access to care. The collaboration with Fountain Clinic represents one of the organization’s longest-running community benefit initiatives and demonstrates the impact healthcare organizations can make when working together to address local needs.
“Our partnership with Oaklawn has been invaluable to the patients we serve,” said Mary Jo Byrne, Executive Director of Fountain Clinic. “We are incredibly grateful for Oaklawn’s generosity and unwavering commitment to our mission as it gives our patients access to essential services they could not otherwise afford.”
For more than two decades, the partnership has helped bridge healthcare access gaps while reinforcing a shared commitment to serving those most in need.
“Strong communities are built when organizations come together around a shared purpose,” Dr. Liston-Crandall added. “By working alongside the Fountain Clinic, we’re helping connect more people to the care they need. That’s good for individual patients, and it’s good for the health of our community as a whole.”
