Surgical Services

Oaklawn and its skilled surgeons provide inpatient and outpatient surgery with technologically advanced equipment. Oaklawn’s Rob Covert Surgery Center of Excellence includes five operating rooms and a vascular lab.

The Operating Rooms (ORs) are 620 sq.ft., built to accommodate the latest in surgical equipment and technology. The ORs have ceiling hung equipment booms which store mechanical devices and power supplies for surgical instrumentation and can be moved throughout the room at the touch of a button, eliminating the need to have cords or carts on the floor. The LED surgical lighting is engineered to provide the best and brightest visualization with minimal heat or shadow generation, providing the surgeon with the truest tissue and organ colorization. Each OR has multiple cameras and monitors that provide the surgeon and surgical team excellent visualization from any position in the room. The cameras can record digital images that can be emailed to another OR, to a lab, or worldwide to a consulting specialist.

The pre/post patient care rooms are private cubicles equipped with glass doors and privacy curtains. Each cubicle has room for family members as well as a TV to enhance comfort and reduce stress.

Oaklawn’s surgical team provides total patient care, including pre-op teaching, anesthesia, skilled nursing services, and recovery care. Surgical services, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis include:
