Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise based form of physical therapy designed to treat dizziness and balance disorders in individuals of all ages. Physical therapists evaluate whether symptoms are appropriate for rehabilitation or if they may be related to an underlying medical condition that should be addressed by a physician or specialist.
Vestibular rehabilitation may differ from what many people expect from traditional physical therapy. Depending on the diagnosis and severity of symptoms, treatment may require only a single visit or may continue for several months.
Benefits of Vestibular Rehabilitation
• Reduced dizziness
• Improved balance
• Easier and more confident walking
• Greater sense of safety during movement
• Reduced risk of falls
• Potential return to work if symptoms have limited employment
• Improved overall quality of life
Dizziness can significantly affect daily functioning and enjoyment of leisure activities. Some individuals limit their time outside the home due to imbalance, headaches, or fear of falling. Vestibular rehabilitation can help restore confidence, improve mobility, and support a return to meaningful activities.
