Oaklawn Medical Group’s Wright Medical Primary Care welcomes Rebecca Womble, FNP-C

As of March 11, Family Nurse Practitioner Rebecca Womble will be the newest addition to Oaklawn Medical Group’s Wright Medical Primary Care located in the Wright Medical Building at 215 E. Mansion St. Suite 2F in Marshall. The office can be reached at 269-781-2111.

Womble grew up near Gun Lake, located between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, and after three decades living away from Michigan, she moved back to The Mitten in 2019, recently working for Bronson Healthcare.

Now, five years after her homecoming, she said she is happy to be joining Oaklawn.

“I liked that Oaklawn is very community-oriented, and the community support is amazing,” she said. “I look forward to growing with Oaklawn.”

After high school, Womble served in the United States Navy in the mid-1990s as a medical corpsman while stationed in Charleston, S.C. for four years.

She then moved to New Mexico where her parents were and attended New Mexico State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She subsequently earned her master’s degree in nursing from the University of St. Francis in Illinois.

Womble said she wanted to be involved in medicine for as long as she can remember.

“I always wanted to be a nurse and I just knew that from the get-go,” she said. “It was just always there. I liked the idea of taking care of people and taking care of animals. It was just a natural thing for me.”

Womble worked in New Mexico as an RN and a Family Nurse Practitioner for two decades before moving back to Michigan in 2019 and working for Bronson Fast Care and in the Acute Evaluation Clinic during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, seeing well over 100 patients a day.

“Now I am so excited to begin working at Oaklawn,” Womble added. “I‘ll get to spend more time with patients and really get to know them…And I’ll be able to establish collaborative relationships with the other providers. I really like the idea that if I have a patient with eye issues, there’s an eye doctor right down the hall and I can call them and ask if they can see the patient.”

In her spare time, Womble enjoys sewing, quilting, exercising and taking care of her five chickens, who all have unique names, including one named “Amelia Egghart.”

Womble has several areas of expertise, including Pediatrics, Thyroid Disorders, Weight Loss, Tyle II Diabetes, Family Practice and Women’s Health.

As she gets set to start her new job, Womble said she is happy to be part of the Oaklawn team.

“I am excited to be able to gain additional knowledge and skills from collaborating with physicians and APPs within Oaklawn Medical Group,” she said. “Most of all, I am excited to become part of the community.”
