Diabetes Workshop: Beadle Lake

Take control of your health through this comprehensive diabetes education program. Led by experienced educators, this class provides practical tools and knowledge to help you manage diabetes with confidence in daily life.

Participants will receive expert guidance on nutrition, physical activity, blood sugar monitoring, medications, and long-term health strategies, along with techniques for handling common challenges.

Please note that participation in this event requires a referral from a physician.

What You Will Learn

This class covers the key areas of diabetes self-management to help you feel informed and supported. You will learn how to make healthier food choices using the plate planning method, carbohydrate counting, and effective meal timing strategies. The program also explores the importance of physical activity, including recommended activity levels, health benefits, and practical approaches to staying active safely.

You will gain a better understanding of blood sugar monitoring, including how to use blood sugar meters, what A1c means, and why regular monitoring is important. The class also provides clear information on diabetes medications, including common types, their benefits, and possible side effects.

In addition, you will learn problem solving skills to manage high and low blood sugar, handle sick days, and navigate everyday challenges. The program also addresses healthy coping strategies such as finding support, improving sleep, and reducing stress. Finally, you will learn ways to reduce the risk of diabetes related complications by improving A1c, blood pressure, and cholesterol, staying up to date on routine checkups, and quitting smoking.
