Notice of Data Incident at Cerner
Oaklawn Hospital is providing notice regarding a data security incident affecting certain patient information maintained by one of Oaklawn’s third-party electronic health record (EHR) vendors, Cerner Corporation (now part of Oracle Health). On November 6, 2025, Cerner notified Oaklawn that certain of patient information was impacted in a security incident that occurred on Cerner’s systems. This incident did not involve access to any Oaklawn systems.
Based on information provided by Cerner, Cerner became aware of the incident when an unauthorized third party gained access to certain legacy Cerner systems. Cerner promptly contacted law enforcement, engaged cybersecurity experts, and began an investigation into the incident. Through this investigation, Cerner determined the unauthorized actor had gained access to certain protected health information of Oaklawn’s patients by roughly January 22, 2025, and the impacted information may have included data elements like names, Social Security numbers, and information included within patient medical records.
Though the incident did not affect Oaklawn’s systems, Oaklawn worked closely with Cerner to determine the scope of the incident, identify potentially impacted patients, and confirm that Cerner took a number of remediation steps designed to prevent this kind of event from happening again.
To help protect potentially impacted patients, Cerner is offering identity protection services through a vendor, Experian. It will also provide 3-bureau credit monitoring for two (2) years to impacted individuals who wish to enroll. As an additional precaution, Cerner will also provide monitoring services known as “Internet Surveillance.” We also encourage potentially impacted patients to remain vigilant by reviewing account statements and monitoring free credit reports.
Cerner has also established a dedicated, toll-free call center at 833-745-2336 to answer questions related to the incident. Please be prepared to provide engagement number B169740.
We at Oaklawn take your trust in us and this matter very seriously. Oaklawn remains committed to protecting your information and providing you with quality healthcare care.
