MARSHALL, Mich. — May 13, 2025 — Oaklawn is offering a series of free, open house-style Advanced Directive Workshops designed to help community members take proactive steps in planning for their future health care needs. These events are open to the public and provide a welcoming environment for individuals to learn about and complete advanced directive paperwork.
Advanced directives are legal documents that allow individuals to outline their preferences for medical care if they become unable to communicate or make decisions for themselves. These directives ensure that your wishes are known and respected by loved ones and health care providers during critical times.
At each workshop, Oaklawn Case Managers will be available to:
These workshops are designed to be drop-in events—no appointments or registration required. Whether you’re just beginning to explore your options or are ready to complete your paperwork, this is a supportive, informative space to take that next step with confidence.
“We want people to feel empowered to make decisions about their future health care in a way that reflects their values,” said Amy Brown, Patient Advocate at Oaklawn. “Having an advanced directive in place not only gives peace of mind to individuals, but it also relieves a tremendous burden from their loved ones during times of crisis.”
