Zachary Bassler, MD, joins Oaklawn Medical Group - Beadle Lake Primary Care

Oaklawn has announced that Dr. Zachary Bassler, specializing in internal medicine, has joined Beadle Lake Primary Care, located at 14231 Beadle Lake Road in Battle Creek. The office can be reached at 269-962-0441.

A Battle Creek native and graduate of Harper Creek High School, Bassler most recently served as chief resident at Henry Ford Health System in Southfield, Mich. (formerly Ascension Providence Hospital).

“After more than a decade away from Battle Creek completing training and gathering work experiences, I knew I wanted to return to my hometown,” said Bassler. “Practicing medicine in the community where I grew up, surrounded by my family and friends, is both personally and professionally fulfilling. Oaklawn immediately felt like the right place for me, with its welcoming environment and focus on patient care.”

Bassler provides comprehensive care for adult patients, managing everything from acute illnesses to advanced chronic conditions. His training and experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings have prepared him to treat a wide variety of health concerns.

“Caring for patients in underserved communities with complex health challenges gave me valuable perspective,” he said. “It reinforced the need to combine compassion with evidence-based medicine in order to provide the highest quality care.”

Bassler said his decision to pursue medicine was rooted in both curiosity and compassion.

“From an early age, I was drawn to science, but it was really the human side of medicine—the opportunity to improve lives—that motivated me,” he said. “I find it incredibly fulfilling to support patients during challenging times and to help them achieve better health.”

Outside of medicine, Bassler enjoys spending time with his two dogs, traveling, reading, hiking, and disc golf.

“My brother lives in Arizona, and we’ve enjoyed some great hikes together, including Camelback Mountain,” he said. “Battle Creek also has excellent disc golf courses, and I’m excited to be back in a community that values outdoor activities.”

For Bassler, coming home is a full-circle moment.

“The office is located just a few miles from where I went to high school and close to my family as well,” he said. “It feels special to be able to give back to the community that shaped who I am today.”
