Upcoming COVID-19 Pandemic Policy Changes Effective April 1, 2023

Due to persistently low positivity rates and inpatient numbers at Oaklawn for COVID-19 infections, beginning April 1, 2023, Oaklawn will make the following changes:

  • The only visitor restrictions will be those that were in place pre-pandemic.
    • Birth Center visitors under 12 are allowed only if they are siblings to the new baby. The number of visitors is limited during delivery. For full details on the Birth Center’s visitor policy, click here.
    • In the Emergency Department, those restrictions are no more than two adults with a patient.
  • Masking is no longer required for patients, visitors, and employees except where appropriate as personal protective equipment (PPE) for procedures and isolation situations.
    • Voluntary masking is welcome, and masks and hand sanitizer stations will be in facility entryways for your convenience.
    • We ask that if you have respiratory symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose), have been exposed to someone with a respiratory illness within the past 10 days, or have tested positive for a respiratory illness within the past 10 days, that you please wear a mask and protect those around you.
  • COVID-19 testing requirements for admitted patients is at the discretion of the Physicians in the Emergency Department or Admitting Physicians, who may order a quad test if they feel it is necessary.

We are looking forward to our new normal; however, Oaklawn’s Incident Command team will continue to monitor the situation and if they deem it necessary, we will revert back to pandemic precautions as essential for the safety of our patients and employees.
