Oaklawn physician and patient share birthday reunion

BATTLE CREEK – The notion that coincidences can mount up in remarkable ways was proven Jan. 15, 2018, at the Oaklawn Birth Center in Marshall when a mother, her new baby and the doctor who delivered the child all shared the same birthday.

Exactly one year later, Eric Ebner, M.D., was marking his birthday during his lunch break in his Oaklawn Medical Group – Beadle Lake office when he was surprised with cake, a gift and hugs from Tim and Kaylene Hill and their 1-year-old daughter Avery, who live in Battle Creek. The Hills had arranged with Ebner’s staff to make the surprise possible. “I wanted to do it because he saved my life,” said Kaylene Hill, who required emergency treatment as the result of complications after the delivery. In fact, the entire medical team that had aided the Hills in 2018 were on hand for the 2019 reunion, she said.

An obstetrician and gynecologist, Ebner practiced privately in Marshall for many years and rejoined Oaklawn in 2013. His office is at 14231 Beadle Lake Road.
