Oaklawn offers vascular screening clinics Aug. 10 in Marshall and Sept. 4 in Albion
Two free vascular screening clinics for Marshall and Albion area residents are being offered by Marshall-based Oaklawn without charge to qualifying individuals.
The clinics will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 10, at the Fountain Clinic at 111 N. Jefferson St. in Marshall and on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the Forks Senior Center at 101 N. Albion St. in Albion. Each clinic will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
No pre-registration is required, and participants will fill out a brief questionnaire on arrival. The clinics will be administered on a “walk-in” basis, said Lynette Birch, practice manager of Oaklawn Medical Group Heart & Vascular Institute.
“All it takes is about 30 minutes, and you could learn whether you might be at risk of an aneurysm in the abdomen, debilitating stroke or might have peripheral artery disease,” Birch said.
The screenings are intended for individuals age 55 or older who demonstrate such risk factors as a family history of carotid artery disease, coronary artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm, smoking (past or present), high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and/or obesity.
Additional information is available by calling the institute at (269) 789-8272. The vascular institute is based in Suite 1E of the Wright Medical Building, 215 E. Mansion St.
