Oaklawn Hospital welcomes new cardiologist

Oaklawn Hospital is pleased to welcome cardiologist Farid Zayed, M.D. to Oaklawn Hospital’s active medical staff and to the practice of Oaklawn Medical Group-Cardiology. Dr. Zayed shares office space with Oaklawn Medical Group-Pulmonology located in the Ricketson Medical Building across the street from the hospital at 103 E. We are delighted that Dr. Zayed has joined our staff,”said Oaklawn President and CEO Rob Covert.“He will be the Cardiac Director of our Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center in addition to providing patient consultations both inhis office and at the hospital. Having Dr. Zayed on location full-time will allow us to treat a large percentage of cardiac patients here at Oaklawn that we formerly would transfer to be under a cardiologist’s care.”

A graduate of Kuwait University Medical School, Dr.Zayed interned at Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York City, then moved toMichigan where he did an Internal Medicine residency at St. Joseph Mercy in Pontiac. He has completed fellowships in both Echocardiography and Cardiology from Louisiana State University’s School of Medicine. Dr. Zayed has been in practice for over 23 years, most recently in the Detroit area. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases.
