Dr. Liston-Crandall will succeed Gregg Beeg, who will retire following more than a decade of service to Oaklawn, including seven years as President and CEO.

“Gregg has provided exceptional leadership during a transformative period in healthcare and has helped position Oaklawn for continued success,” said Catherine Yates, Chair of the Oaklawn Board of Directors. “We are deeply grateful for his service, dedication, and commitment to our patients, employees, and community.”

Beeg joined Oaklawn in 2014 as Chief Financial Officer, served as Interim President and CEO beginning in 2018, and was named President and CEO in 2019.

Under Beeg’s leadership, Oaklawn expanded its regional footprint, increased access to care through new service locations and programs, and continued to strengthen its role as an independent community healthcare provider. He led Oaklawn through the COVID-19 pandemic, the most significant healthcare crisis of our lifetime, ensuring continued access to care while supporting patients, employees, and the community during an unprecedented period in healthcare. During his tenure, Oaklawn became the first hospital in Calhoun County to offer Mako SmartRobotics™ technology and most recently became the first healthcare organization in Michigan to deploy three da Vinci 5 robotic surgical systems. His leadership also guided Oaklawn through its centennial celebration, marking 100 years of service to the communities of south-central Michigan while positioning the organization for its next century of care.

A longtime Marshall resident and Oaklawn physician, Dr. Liston-Crandall has served as Oaklawn’s Chief Medical Officer since 2021. Since joining Oaklawn in 2007, she has held numerous leadership positions, including Chief of Staff and Interim Medical Director. In her current role, she has overseen hospital care operations, Oaklawn Medical Group, and rehabilitation services while helping strengthen provider engagement, recruitment, quality, and patient access.

Dr. Liston-Crandall earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, completed her Family Medicine residency at Oregon Health & Science University, and earned a Physician MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Most recently, she achieved Fellow status with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), one of healthcare leadership’s highest professional distinctions.

“The Board is confident that Summer’s leadership, experience, and deep commitment to Oaklawn’s mission make her the right person to lead the organization into its next chapter,” said Yates. “She understands our community, values our employees and providers, and combines a deep understanding of Oaklawn with fresh ideas and innovative initiatives that will help strengthen the organization and ensure it remains a thriving, independent healthcare leader for generations to come.”

Upon assuming the role of President and CEO, Dr. Liston-Crandall will transition from clinical practice to focus full-time on leading Oaklawn’s operations, strategy, and future growth.
