New officers elected to Oaklawn Hospital's Medical Executive Committee

Members of Oaklawn Hospital’s medical staff recently elected new officers to the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee.

The new officers are Caron Warnsby, M.D., who was appointed Chief of Staff; James Niewenhuis, M.D., who will serve as Chief of Staff Elect; and Michael Chapman, D.O., who will serve as Secretary. Their terms run from the present through the end of 2015.

The Medical Executive Committee is the elected governing body of the hospital’s medical staff. Its responsibilities include enforcement of the medical staff’s bylaws and its rules and regulations. The committee also acts as the liaison between the medical staff and the hospital’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Warnsby earned her bachelor’s degree from Tuskegee (Ala.) University and her medical degree from the University of Illinois. She was chief surgical resident at Brookdale (N.Y.) Hospital and Medical Center and completed a research residency in trauma at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.  She is a surgeon with Oaklawn Medical Group – General Surgical Associates.

Dr. Niewenhuis earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at William Beaumont Hospital, and is certified by the American Board of Pathology. He is a pathologist with Regional Pathology Consultants P.C.

Dr. Chapman earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center. He practices with Kalamazoo Emergency Associates.
