Marshall chamber honors Oaklawn Hospital as 2013 Key Member

Oaklawn Hospital is the recipient of the 2013 Key Member Award presented by the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce.

The presentation was made Tuesday evening during the chamber’s 67th annual dinner, held at Schuler’s restaurant.

Mark O’Connell, chair of the chamber’s board, and Monica Anderson, the chamber’s president and CEO, presented the award to Ginger Williams, president and CEO of the hospital.

Anderson said Oaklawn was chosen for the honor because of its ongoing work to support many chamber and community activities and events. These include:

• Support of the chamber over many years, including providing volunteers for its board of directors, committees and leadership positions, and being a Platinum Level Community Builder.

• Serving as a chamber partner for the community’s annual Fourth of July celebration, as sponsor of the annual Pet, Bike & Wagon Parade and several “What’s Brewing, Marshall?” events, and providing food for the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast.

• Increased involvement and outreach to the community.

• Partnering with the Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance and its Operation CommUNITY project.

The annual dinner was held to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year and thank chamber members and community volunteers for their contributions.
