Britten, with a background in athletic training, began with Oaklawn in April, after having worked  the past four years in Kalamazoo as a Physician Assistant at Ascension Borgess Hospital Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. There, she provided orthopedic care in a clinical setting including the diagnosis, treatment and management of arthritic conditions, sports injuries, and various other musculoskeletal injuries. This included providing post-op care for surgeries such as major joint replacements, arthroscopies and ligamentous repairs. She also spent her years there assisting surgeons in the operating room during procedures such as shoulder, knee, and hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder, hip and knee scopes, and ligament and tendon reconstructions.

Britten grew up in the Southern Michigan area and is a graduate of Coldwater High School.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2012 from Saginaw Valley State University and worked as an Athletic Trainer treating athletes at a local high school near Battle Creek for three years.

She then  earned her Master of Science in Medicine, Physician Assistant Studies in 2019 from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.

As a Physician Assistant, Britten notes that she enjoys getting to know her patients to give them the most thorough care possible.

“When I see a patient, I want to make sure I take into account their entire lifestyle for  their treatment plan rather than just textbook treatments,” she says. “I treat the patient with the mindset of what’s best for them. Having state of the art x-ray on site will allow us to formulate a good treatment plan during their appointment from start to finish.”
