Proceeds to benefit Oaklawn’s Women’s Diagnostic Center
Head on out to the ballpark for a great cause and great fun as Oaklawn and the Battle Creek Battle Jacks team up for “Pink Out The Park Night” on June 15 when the Battle Jacks, members of the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer league, host the Kokomo Jackrabbits at MCCU Field.
First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. and gates open at 5:35 p.m.
A portion of proceeds from ticket packages as well as a 50/50 raffle will benefit Oaklawn’s Women’s Diagnostic Center.
Battle Jacks General Manager Denny Smith said the team is selling special ticket packages to benefit the Women’s Diagnostic Center and the Battle Jacks will also be auctioning off jerseys after the game to raise more funds.
The Oaklawn’s Women’s Diagnostic Center offers a relaxing atmosphere for the services of mammography, ultrasound and DEXA Scan.
Each Pink Out The Park $20 ticket package includes a General Admission bleacher ticket (sections 307 and 308), a Battle Jacks hat, a Pink Out The Park rally towel, a meal voucher for a hot dog, burger or brat, chips and a pop/water and a donation to the Women’s Diagnostic Center.
Ticket packages can be purchased by going to oaklawnhospital.org/pink.

“As we were starting to create our promotional schedule for the 2024 season, we started to think about some new promotions for this year,” said Smith. “We have hosted Strike Out Cancer Night the past few seasons, but this year we decided to host a Pink Out The Park Night to support breast cancer research and awareness. The visual of seeing a packed ballpark with 1,500 fans, our players, staff and coaches wearing all pink was something that we thought would be an amazing atmosphere while also supporting a great cause. This is also something that is near and dear to my heart as I have personally lost family members to this awful disease.”
Smith continued: “When we were brainstorming ideas, it was right around the time Oaklawn was gearing up for the annual Auction with the Women’s Diagnostic Center being a recipient of the proceeds. From there it was a no brainer – we had to partner with Oaklawn and the Women’s Diagnostic Center. Oaklawn is one of our four founding partners and has been with the team for years. That partnership was the right fit for this night… We’re looking forward to packing out and pinking out MCCU Field on June 15.”
Oaklawn senior leaders will be in attendance, and they will also be recognizing Oaklawn’s Employee of the Year Sanaa Alshamari at the game, providing her with VIP treatment.
Oaklawn Development Manager Cindy Lake said Pink Out the Park Night is “just one more way to build awareness to our community of how important it is to receive both preventive and palliative care.”
“I am honored to be part of such a dynamic organization,” added Lake. “Please join us in purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets and bidding high on the Battle Jacks jerseys. Your donation will make a difference for so many of our patients. I hope to see the ballpark full of spectators having a wonderful time and cheering on the Battle Jacks. But I am especially hoping to see everyone wearing my favorite color – Pink!”
Oaklawn Director of Marketing Ryan Traver said the organization is “really excited to partner with the Battle Jacks in an event of this magnitude to really shine a bright pink light on cancer awareness.”
“Everyone has a story to share, or knows someone currently going through a battle,” said Traver. “This is an opportunity to come together as a community, let those with these stories know that they are not alone and Oaklawn, along with our Women’s Diagnostics Center, is in their corner. This is going to be a great night, recognizing one of our own healthcare heroes, and further raising awareness in the fight against cancer.”
