Dr. Saha is dedicated to helping mom’s get back to their pre-baby bodies while enhancing their self confidence. A mommy makeover typically includes a combination of a breast procedure (augmentation or lift) and abdomen procedure (tummy tuck / liposuction). However, a mommy makeover refers to any kind of plastic surgery performed on a woman who has had children, in an effort to regain her pre-pregnancy body contour and/or get a boost to her self-esteem.
A few key points to consider before consulting with your plastic surgeon:
- Cosmetic surgery is elective. No one needs it. Only healthy patients should undergo long operative procedures. Less healthy patients will still be candidates for procedures performed under local anesthetic or non-invasive procedures.
- Plastic surgery is not weight loss surgery. It is about body contouring. Although preoperative weight loss is not required, it allows the patient to achieve a superior aesthetic result.
- It is important to remember that the postoperative period will include periods of swelling, bruising, soreness, and possible activity restrictions. Do not plan to have a procedure right before a big social event.
- Make sure your plastic surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. More and more non-physicians and doctors trained in other specialties are performing plastic surgeries under dangerous conditions.
