Influenza Alert

Visitation is Temporarily Restricted

Due to increased influenza activity in our state and community, Oaklawn is temporarily modifying the visitation policy.  We carefully monitor flu activity levels in our hospital and the community.

We regret any inconvenience caused by these restrictions which are being implemented for the safety of our patients.  Oaklawn will keep these precautions in place for only as long as necessary.  For information on the influenza virus, visit www.cdc.gov/flu.

To protect our patients & babies during this influenza (flu) season, please adhere to the following visitation guidelines:

  • Do not visit patients in the hospital if you have fever, cough, sore throat  or any other flu-like symptoms.
  • Please postpone your visit until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours
  • Do not bring children under 16 to visit patients- (Children/siblings of any age will not be permitted visitation in the Birth Center).
  • No more than two visitors per patient
  • Cover your sneezes and coughs and wash your hands often
  • Visibly ill visitors in the birth center will be asked to leave

Note: Oaklawn encourages frequent hand hygiene and covering your cough to minimize potential transmission.  For your convenience, there are stations with masks, tissue and hand sanitizer throughout the hospital.

  • Children/siblings visitation is not permitted at this time
  • Visibly ill visitors in the birth center will be asked to leave
