Oaklawn expands express-care services at new Beckley Road location

BATTLE CREEK — Local residents can expect increased access to express care and other health services as the Oaklawn expands its presence in this community.

On Thursday, June 1, Oaklawn Express Care – Beckley Road, opened its doors in Suite B at 5352 Beckley Road, Battle Creek. The office may be contacted at (269) 558-0714.

The facility will be open for walk-in appointments from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, including weekends. It will not be necessary to schedule an appointment ahead of time.

Medical providers at the site will include family nurse practitioners Cherie Craft, Shannon Hepler, Robin Kuiper, Jeffrey C. Lee and Rebecca Weyer, as well as physician assistants Mark Boyd, John Green, Austin Lutz and Nicholas Nowak.

More information about Oaklawn’s express-care services, including information about the individual medical providers staffing the site, may be found online at oaklawnhospital.org/services/express-care.

“This new project is another step toward our goal of providing the best possible health services to the communities we serve,” said Oaklawn President and CEO Gregg Beeg. “As always, Oaklawn’s goal is to provide convenient, accessible, thorough medical care when and where people throughout Calhoun County need it most,” he added.

“Urgent care often is listed as a high priority when a community health needs assessment is conducted in our region,” Beeg said. “Fortunately, Oaklawn has been able to respond by establishing express-care services in Marshall and Albion. However, it has been clear that our responsibility also has been to add a location much closer to our region’s center of highest population.”

Beeg said it’s important that Oaklawn be able to provide its services at facilities that are convenient and close to where patients live and work.

“Oaklawn has had a long-standing presence throughout Calhoun County and beyond, including the Battle Creek region,” Beeg said, pointing out that the medical group’s Beadle Lake facility has been in operation for about 12 years.

The site is a facility formerly operated by a Kalamazoo-based medical organization. Oaklawn took over the building’s lease during 2022.

“In time, Oaklawn’s patient services at the site will include express care, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, and orthopedics,” Beeg said. “We will continue to look at expansion opportunities as well as collaborative partnerships and relationships for patient-care services throughout the region.”
